Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Executive Functioning Coach

WHAT SETS ME APART
While I believe my approach is truly the gold standard in EF coaching, I also acknowledge that people experience the world in different ways and may find another approach better suited to their/their child's needs.

So how do you decide who is the right coach for you?

While many factors go into this decision, I want to highlight a few factors that you might not be thinking about:

How does the coach understand your challenges?
One way to understand problems in executive functioning is to make a list of specific challenges, which in clinical or tutoring centers, are labeled as "skill deficits." Then a plan is made to target each of these areas of "deficit" with behavioral steps which where challenges are likely to be understood likely based in neurological (brain) differences. While certainly this is often part of the issue for many people, I tend to find this perspective too simplistic. My clinical training and experience suggest that there are often deeper issues than the "skill deficit" and biological difference. I am interested in truly understanding WHY my clients are struggling in certain areas; I aim to collaborate with each individual to get underneath symptoms to root causes.

I bring a range of experiences which inform the feedback, guidance and perspective which I leverage in my EF coaching work, including:

I conduct research on student growth and have taught undergraduate classes on learning and memory. I possess real expertise on cutting-edge, evidenced-based practices for how to both obtain and retain new information, and how to optimize exam performance.
I have found that many of my coaching clients also struggle with anxiety or other mental health concerns. As a clinical psychologist, I have provided therapy for scores of students struggling with these issues and can help to increase self-understanding and build skills in managing those issues, while also focusing on how they can compound challenges in executive functioning.
Given my teaching experience, I am uniquely capable of helping students to better assess individual instructors' expectations and communicate with them appropriately and effectively.
I have several years of experience in other roles at colleges/universities and am an expert in navigating resources and supports at these institutions. I collaborate with students and families to develop optimal academic plans for each unique student.
Perhaps the most consistent piece of feedback I receive from clients is that I am "so easy to talk to." The core of my work is building a new kind of collaborative relationship with each individual client. I genuinely love working with and getting to know each student, and am particularly adept at helping them not to feel judged while also squarely facing issues and making necessary changes.
