Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Executive Functioning Coach

COACHING IN EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING
Executive Functioning coaching (sometimes called "EF coaching" for short) can be an incredibly helpful service for students, working professionals, and others who struggle in the areas of planning, organization, staying on track, task completion, and a whole host of related skills. Whether you or your child have been diagnosed with ADHD or simply are not performing as well as you/they could, I have years of dedicated experience helping people, especially college and high school students, gain greater mastery in these areas.
MY PHILOSOPHY
I approach my work with EF clients by working on four goals. I list them here in a hypothetical sequence,
but in practice I find work on each of these goals is typically more interwoven.
ATTENDING TO IMMEDIATE PROBLEMS
Typically EF clients come to me overwhelmed with a number of pressing concerns. I have just about seen it all, and am able to keep a cool head and compassionate stance while helping clients quickly triage urgent concerns. Often the start of the coaching process involves assisting clients in their efforts to get back on track and reconnect with a sense of hope.
IMPLEMENTING SYSTEMS
As we attend to immediate problems, I also assess what kind of organizational, planning and support systems clients have in place. Sometimes we need a "total reboot," but more frequently I help clients to problem-solve what hasn't been working with the systems they've been using, with an emphasis on individually finding what works for each client, which is often vastly different from person to person.
BUILDING SKILLS
Once clients are gaining some momentum in overcoming immediate problems, I give more emphasis to drawing lessons in how we have made that progress and begin training in skills that can be used well into the future.
CLARIFYING CAUSES
Along the way, I also find opportunities to deepen insight on why clients have gotten into such predicaments and what factors, both internal (psychological) and external (in the social environment) might be contributing to behavior.
I celebrate neurodiversity.
