Fees & Payment

Insurance

The only insurance I currently accept is Aetna, and this includes college/university plans for Aetna Student Health. Refer to your plan benefits to confirm the amount of your copay (the amount you would be charged at the end of each session, in addition to what your insurance pays). This is typically a maximum of $20 per session and is sometimes $0, depending on how many sessions you have attended.

Out of Network Cost

My standard fee for individual psychotherapy is $300 per session (45-50 minutes in length). I am able to provide practical assistance in navigating out-of-network insurance claims, to help those who do have such benefits to ensure they are making the most out of their plan. These systems are not easy to navigate, but I have found with a little assistance, using out-of-network benefits can become a quick and easy task. I am also able to accept a small number of clients on a sliding scale, going below my standard rate, depending on income or circumstances.

Dissertation Consulting/Coaching

My standard rate for dissertation consulting or coaching is $250/hour. This includes both face-to-face work directly with clients, as well as any reviewing/editing of document drafts or completion of statistical analyses that I complete outside of individual meetings.

Cancellation Policy

Committing to psychotherapy for some period in your life should be a vital and enriching experience. To get the most out of this time, regularly attending therapy sessions, at the time and with the frequency that we mutually decide upon, is of the utmost importance. Attendance is especially important when our work is emotionally difficult.

In addition, as a clinician in private practice, I depend on my patients’ attendance for my income. I am committed to continuing to accept insurance plans as I value accessibility and enjoy working with a diversity of patients; not just those who can afford my private practice rate. I am in-network with plans that meet a minimum financial standard for my time, and who tend to create fewer barriers for optimal patient care.

For patients paying out-of-pocket, I request a minimum of 24 hours notice for a cancellation or request to reschedule, and otherwise charge the full fee of the session. I am not able to charge insurance when a patient cancels a session, so I particularly depend on insurance patients to be proactive in communicating about changes in schedule, and to minimize last minute cancellations for sickness or emergency.

For patients using insurance:

  • I will allow one last minute cancellation/reschedule as a courtesy per calendar year, without charge.

  • Thereafter, I will charge $50 to the payment method on file for any cancellation that occurs within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time. For sessions scheduled on a Monday, I would need notice on the preceding Friday.

For all patients, if we are noticing a pattern of cancellations/reschedules, I will initiate a dialogue about whether to revisit our treatment plan and further discuss.
